There are around 200 million orphans in the world today. That's a staggering amount of children. How do you even begin to help them? Where do you start? What can one person do? We've struggled with these thoughts for many years.
My (Lisa's) passion to help orphans began to grow back in 2005 when I traveled to Latvia for a month. I lived and worked with orphans throughout the country. I saw things that were heartbreaking and eye-opening.
I remember one orphanage in particular that housed 150 kids under the age of 4. I still remember the eerie silence of this baby home. These children had learned not to cry, because they knew no one was coming. I knew I had to do something.
Mother Theresa once said, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." We believe that if enough small things are done by people just like you, then together we can make a significant impact in the lives of many orphans. Everyone has the capacity to do something to help these children. That idea forms the foundation upon which bundle&company is built.
With so many orphans, you might be asking, "Can I really make a difference? What small thing can I do?" It's simple. Buy something and tell your friends about bundle&company. The more people that join us in doing those two things, the more children and families we can help.
Every movement has to start somewhere. We started bundle&company by selling baby blankets and donating 20% to help loving families adopt a child.
That was just the beginning.
Sadly, most orphans will not be adopted. The real tragedy of the orphan crisis is what happens to these kids when they lose the protection of the orphanage and try to make it on their own. We can do something about that. We want to educate and train every orphan so they can be successful in life.
